My Approach

An in-depth assessment of your child’s needs is conducted based on –

  • A range of both standarised and non-standardised tests
  • Teacher observation
  • The views of both yourself and your child
  • Previous progress and attainment
  • Previous assessments e.g. external agencies, school reports, NAPLAN

Based on the assessment, your child receives an Individual Education Plan (IEP) which –

  • Provides S.M.A.R.T. goals and objectives, tailored to your child’s unique learning and behavioural needs
  • Is written in collaboration with yourself and your child
  • Appreciates your child’s strengths, not just their weaknesses
  • Determines the support required for your child to progress

S.M.A.R.T. Goals are –
Specific    Measurable    Attainable    Realistic   Time restricted

Your child will receive professional, effective, evidence-based instruction. Lessons are –

  • Individualised
  • Positive, engaging and success oriented
  • Planned and sequenced, progressing from the simple to the more complex
  • In small steps, progressing from teacher modelling ‘I do’ to guided practice ‘We do’ and finally, independent practice ‘You do’

Your child’s improvement and the impact of instruction is evaluated based on –

  • Regular, ongoing monitoring of teaching and learning
  • Termly review of IEP’s in collaboration with yourself and your child
  • Formal, standardised assessments repeated every 6 months
